The police claims that this video exonerates them .... what do you think?

I only care what is clear at the moment, as it should be. The video shows that the man was surrendering all but clumsy. Nothing before that makes a lick of difference. The courts is where justice is handed out, not on the street. Until police get the message that following the law is for all there will be only spotty respect for police. And in the long run a growing hatred.

Want to support the police profession? Then support professionalism and following the law and due process.

Looks clear to me, his hands were up. The very least this answer needs to be determined in a courtroom. But it won't because of rubber stamping.

Police need respect to do their job, the public needs respect and trust to respect police. Everyone of these instances erodes that respect.

Video doesn't lie Grape ... re-watch it and report back an opinion based on the video.

No many times videos do not tell the whole truth and a lot of times are edited to show a different light on the subject.

This video isn't the whole story and not all the facts for sure.

It seems that those who want to be judge and jury by just using this video most likely would not want themselves on any jury deciding their own case of self defense.

Grape wearing his rose colored glasses....I guess he's entitled to his opinion.
I find your inference insulting.

Seeing clearly is less dependent on the tint than the intention of the viewer. We should always remain objective and focus on finding the truth.

I DID NOT make the statement you attribute to me. That was made by Logan 5 and I totally disagree.

(16) NO FALSE ATTRIBUTIONS: Editing quoted posts by another member to make it appear as if they said something other than what they intended will NOT be tolerated!

I have no problem having general conversations with LEOs, firemen, auto mechanics - people from all walks of life. I do so everyday.

It was an error with someone not snipping the quotes off correctly. Then someone else following up with that same error.

I see it too often here some negligent quoting.

The ultimate thrill for some cops is getting to kill people. (see below) When this black guy in the OP did not immediately obey the cops commands he gave them that opportunity.
Sure his hands were up and he didn't make any threatening movements. But he was black and did not or could not obey so that justifies an opportunity to kill and they jumped at the chance.

“I dropped like a f**king bomb on his head!” “I tased a motherf**ker in custody today. I don’t care. I gotta call my PBA rep… when you kill someone… I already called them.”

No, I made the comment, not Grapeshot. I strongly believe that if a cop is assailing someone unlawfully, they should be assailed the same. It's called karma. They deserve no immunity while in the commission of a crime.

Doesn't the second paragraph counter the first paragraph? Just wondering.

Sometimes it's not a matter of what IS on the video, but what is not on video because of where the video is. A video is a great tool. However, it is still only documenting a third-party position. In order to tell the story more accurately the cop should be wearing the camera unit, and as much as I deplore the intrusion into privacy, so should the victim.

The continuing efforts to convince you of what you saw with your own eyes is not really what you think you saw with your own eyes. Many cops do this, roll up with facts floating around in their head, ignoring what is evident before them when viewed with their own eyes.

Remember a simple phone call by another, unknown to you, gives cops all the authority they need to, at a minimum, ruin your day.

.

Very true as seen here many people convince themselves what they see or saw is totally different from what happen based on their personally agenda and opinion.

Then when the wrong assumptions are made they can't or refuse to admit they were wrong or jumped to conclusions that are not supported.

Personally knowledge, training, experience are all factors that can lead to some one to the what, when and how of defending them selves in any given situation.

Such a tired argument. You have faith. Faith in your righteous brothers. Video or any other evidence must not be able to explain the simple fact of the purity of all cops. Thus the tired ol argument of there are other intangibles unexplainable to the unrighteous that absolve all cops of all wrong doing.

Here's a good example. You stupid idiots will probably find this photo appalling but this righteous cop had to karate kick this handcuffed seated woman. You just can't understand why cause your not a cop.

I thought the discussion was about the video posted by the OP ,such tired tactics of bringing other incidents up to take away from discussion of the first one.

If you want to post other videos of other incidents do so and we can have a go at them.

A Rhode Island cop, who was slapped with a 10-year suspension in March for kicking a cuffed woman in the head outside of a casino, is now fighting for his job.

Not this cop's first rodeo. Why is this miscreant not in prison on felony conviction? What is sad is that the other cops on the scene did not immediately place that cop under arrest for his egregiously unacceptable behavior. But, this video may not tell the whole story.

Not everything is black or white - some things are a combination of blue and brawn :uhoh:

The op shows a video from one advantage point and neither proves or disproves the LEA account of the incident. All we see is a dude getting shot by cops.

A independent investigating entity is required...I'll not hold my breath though.
