I know this is an old-ish thread, but I just wanted to answer the original question about a gunsmith. I dropped my Glock off at Northeastern Firearms a few days ago for a duracoat finish. $75 for the entire gun. It's about an hour away in Turner, but I couldn't find any better priced alternatives and they said I could pick it up whenever I wanted.

That is a very good price! Thanks for the info.

If I can figure out how, I'll post pictures after I pick it up if anyone wants. I don't have any experience with duracoat finishes, but someone else might be able to judge the paint job better.

Ok, here it is. You can see there is already some wear on the rail from my light. Added a beavertail because it helps with my grip when drawing from my Serpa, and a +2 mag extension because.. well, who doesn't love an extra 2 PDX1's?

The place that did it for me (Northereastern Firearms) also has a few other guns painted in different colors so you can get a good idea of what it's going to look like. They have a really nice AR that has the same duracoat finish as my G22.

Nice! They are quite a drive for me from Portland, but it's well worth it every time. Apparently there are some pits close to their that I still need to find, too.
