We are now running on a new, and hopefully much-improved, server. In addition we are also on new forum software. In some respects Bill45 makes a valid point. I don't live in South County....well King that is.....I live in South Snohomish county LOL... but I have not posted in a long time because Open Carry has been fairly normalized here. Which was the basis for OCDO in the first place. It has been successful.
I was in Yakima about 3 weekends ago and OC'd as I normally do. My dad (86yrs) was having a holster made and took me to pick it up with him in a little shoe and leather shop in Downtown. The guy had a big sign on his door inviting gun owners to carry into his shop. Had a great chat.
And once again, no issues OC'ing. As it should be......

Posting about the acceptance of OC in your area helps/encourages others where it is not so common.
I love stories about shops, stores, restaurants that encourage or welcome gun carriers.

Alright, finally had my 2nd negative experience! :banana:
(First was probably +2yrs ago - didn't see the tiny no-gun sticker on the door at Twinstar CU - handled politely)
Breakfast this morning ended up in Puyallup. The signage out front said "Bar and grill" but my buddy said he's seen kids eat there, and there was neither a "21 and over" sign nor "anti" sticker at the entrance. Had a pretty good omelette with a Guinness and stepped out back for a smoke (where we could bring our drinks), and returned to our table to finish our drinks and pay the bill. Of course, it was after I thumped down my card to pay, that a man (I assume manager) approached to tell me that I "can't have a gun in here". I politely explained the legal end ("designated by LCB...") and he re-asserted: "it's a bar, you can't have that in here".
The place wasn't filling up, so they weren't looking to make the table available. In fact between chatting, finishing our meal and stepping out back, the waitstaff had even said: "No rush".
Finished paying the bill, reasonable tip, with nearly the same level of urgency we started with, and [mgr?] returned to tell me to take the gun out of there. "I'm out, have a good day."
It was a nice enough place, decent food, and I don't think the guy was trying to be a dick... Still, I'll go where I can OC...
Notes:
1) This was not a "Spread the OC" breakfast:shocker: - it was a "reunion-with-old-buddy" breakfast. If that's gonna be a major issue, I'm sure the mods or Solus will be happy to ban me...
2) Regardless of signage, I stand by property rights, the right to refuse service, and the right to throw people out. "My House == My Rules". Just as I have the right to spend my money where I am welcomed...

They might just have not cared for ordering alcohol while visibly armed, bar or not notwithstanding

Agreed. However, "refusing service" might have reduced their profit margin. They didn't seem to have any problem until there was a bill payable. To express their concern before we were seated, or declining to serve alcohol per policy, would be to risk "loosing money".
Other establishments have yet to complain.

I had to take a little trip down to Seatac this morning to drop off the wife at the airport. I open carried while I was in there, and we sat down and had a nice coffee while waiting for her flight. A couple of the Port Authority cops walked by and gave me the hairy eyeball, but nothing was said. All in all, that's how I like it.
Afterward, I had a nice breakfast with Freedom1man. Nothing like talking about guns over a good plate of bacon and eggs.

Yes, Guinness for breakfast. Guinness for Strength. Apparently you do not have enough Irish blood to be able to deal with Morrigans Nectar. I drink in Washington restaurants quite a bit without worry.
Way to go. I have been in SeaTac and Bellingham airports quite a few times and NEVER a worry.

I have only attended one Burns. I do like Haggis tho.

Took the cats to Tanglewilde Vets (Lacey) yesterday, and no issue. The only one that got held up was me, almost $800!

A vet can be very, very expensive. You might consider a health insurance program to counter the cost. We do it for humans and it is available all over the country. Not a bad deal if you have older or invalid pets.

I told my vet expensive fixes were cured for about 1.5 cents the price of a 22LF at the time now it is in more of the 10 cents range.

Short version... I have been out and about in the Lakewood, Tacoma area and have not had a single problem regarding open carry. I do it every day.
