Don’t bother. You are too far past the deadline.
File a new application, start all over again, pay attention to your dates this time.
Worst. Advice. Ever.
Expensive, too.

Hello all, first post on this site. Lots of great information here, and it has definitely helped already. Somewhat disheartening to read the delays in Milford as I was planning to finally apply for a permit after I take my gun course on Dec. 7th. I was hoping the fact I am an attorney with a clean record (and recently went through all those background checks for the Bar exam in CT last year) would possibly help with expediting the process, but it doesn't seem like that is the case.
In any event, for the purpose of adding to this thread I will update it with my progress in the coming weeks and months. Nice to see that CT gun enthusiasts have a supportive community.

Well I'm still waiting it's been 11 weeks today and still no permit. I was told that the delay was due all the assault rifles having to be registered. All my local resident trooper could tell me was it should be sometime in January. He said they are still waiting on my fingerprints to come back. I called Middletown and asked if they had been run and I was told I would need to check with my resident trooper. When I asked the resident trooper he said I needed to check with Middletown. I do know it took over a month for my checks to be cashed. I can understand a slight delay but this seems to be taking much longer than it should.
How long has your appeal been in for?
I have not appealed yet

They have a book of excuses !
File an appeal of you'll be waiting 2 yrs for your permit.
I contacted Middletown again today and they were very helpful. They stated my fingerprints were E-Mailed back to the town yesterday. So I'll give it a bit more time before I file any paperwork. They did state that they received my fingerprints the third week of November and were backed up.
DO NOT RESTART YOUR APPLICATION.
Personally, I see no reason to appeal when there is a delay. Rich, don't bother quoting and objecting...I know where you stand.
Revocations and denials, sure...delays...it's just sitting on someone's desk among coffee stains and pizza slices. It's up to you to make it someone's business to get the ball rolling again.
The first point of biz is to identify which entity is responsible for the delay. Call the state, call the FBI (hint, it's NOT the feds), call your town. Figure out where your paperwork is and whose responsibility it is to get the stuff moving forward. The statute is only OK at making sure that various entities do things in a timely manner, but there are cracks...and in one of those cracks is your application.
PM me if you'd like some assistance.

I'm just going to start re-posting my advice every time Rich B tells someone to appeal in response to a delay by the state/town. See Reply #84 for a success story.
DO NOT APPEAL IF YOU HAVE NOT BEEN DENIED.
Smart move...you should be OK.
