Current conditions to date in McDuffie and Warren Counties Georgia do NOT permit a concealed carry under threat of arrest. Second, the carry is open, with part of the weapon exposed, and not just the grip and a holster is required for open carry. These instructions are issued by the probate judge and confirmed at the local LEO level (sheriff and local police). These conditions are being investigated at this time, both from the bottom up and from the D.A. of that judicial circuit down. This is a failure to follow O.C.G.A. code 16-11-126 (c) for concealed carry, and the general provisions for getting a Georgia Firearms License found in 16-11-129

Update - Go to http://www.georgiacarry.org/ to see letters, but the Sheriff has denied that he has any carry policy at all, swearing he follows state law only, and the Probate Judge admits that the written policy was an "old form" but denies that the probate court has ever given out information that open carry is required.

Of course, the form was handed out 6 weeks ago . . .

Anyway, both the Sheriff and the Probate Judge appear to be in line with state law now.
