HB 203 has been introduced by Rep. Art Wittich. This is MSSA's bill to prevent state and local government employees from enforcing any new federal gun laws, orders or regulations (think of presidential executive orders to implement the UN gun ban treaty, for example). HB 203 has been referred to the House Judiciary Committee, but no public hearing date is assigned yet. This bill should be on your Preference List on the Legislature's Website.

HB 203 HEARING THIS TUES 1/27 Prohibit Govt Employees from enforcing fed gun laws

Dear MSSA Friends,

MSSA’s bill to prevent Montana state and local officials from enforcing or helping to enforce any new federal gun control laws, HB 203, has been scheduled for a public hearing before the House Judiciary Committee on Tuesday, January 27th, at 8AM.

We keep hearing about proposed new federal gun control such as presidential executive orders to implement the UN gun ban, magazine bans, semi-auto bans, limitations on firearm storage, mandatory federal background checks for private firearm transfers, mental health validation for gun owners, and more.

When I was in New York City to appear on the Glenn Beck TV show, I met Judge Andrew Nepolitano in the warm-up room. We talked about this. He has the firm opinion that the feds simply don’t have the manpower to enforce new federal gun control, but must depend on state and local police for effective enforcement. I agree, thus HB 203.

HB 203, sponsored for MSSA by Rep. Art Wittich (R-Bozeman), would prevent all state and local Montana public employees from enforcing, or helping to enforce, any new federal firearm restrictions that are not in law today. No more federal gun control!

If you can get to Helena to support HB 203 in its public hearing before the House Judiciary Committee, that would be great. Please see or review my coaching about how to best appear and present at a legislative public hearing at:
http://progunleaders.org/Legislative Process/hearing.html

If you can’t come to Helena to appear before the Committee, please send messages to Committee members. Again, you can send one message to all committee members at one time via the Online legislative message form at:
http://www.leg.mt.gov/css/Sessions/64th/legwebmessage.asp

Again, be BRIEF. Legislators are so very swamped with material to read (they speak of it as "drinking from a fire hose") that they simply don’t have time to and won’t read a long message. One short paragraph would be good. Just saying "Please support HB 203" would be sufficient.

Thanks for supporting HB 203 and for supporting other MSSA bills. Your support IS IMPORTANT!!!

Best wishes,
