We are now running on a new, and hopefully much-improved, server. In addition we are also on new forum software. Any move entails a lot of technical details and I suspect we will encounter a few issues as the new server goes live. Please be patient with us. It will be worth it! :)
Please help by posting all issues here.
The forum will be down for about an hour this weekend for maintenance. I apologize for the inconvenience.

Possibly the most biased article I've read in awhile. Group's website is worse. In any event, their objective is to hit...
Some of you may have seen Shane and Kaitlyn rocking the MOCA t-shirts at the RTK picnic. They're available on CafePress if anyone is interested.

Purpose of meeting was to discuss his concerns from LEO perspective and ours from free speech / RTKBA perspective. Take-away points as follows:
I stressed that we do not want an overbearing police presence and are specifically not requesting any LEO for the event. He agreed but said the...

Anyone heard more about this? Looks like they want to propose a national standard which would allow true nationwide CCW reciprocity. I can see that being very good or very bad.
Anyone know a good shooting range in the Wiscasset / Bath / Woolwich area? Hard to get trigger time around here. No hunting / no shooting signs all over the damn place.
As it currently stands, ~75% of respondents are opposed to the measure. I'm sure a few of you guys are in here.
First, comments opposing the measure:
Now, for those supporting the measure. Think I'll take each of these in turn.
How convenient for you that in working to preserve all gun rights I...
Working on another project. Need examples of armed citizens defending themselves, assisting law enforcement, etc in active shooter scenarios. So far I've got:
Texas A&M (1966) - Armed civilians law down suppressive fire against shooter Charles Whitman, forcing him to take cover and severely...
Mall ninja, responsible carry, etc
For the overwhelming majority of the Maine OC community, this isn't relevant, but it needs to be stated plainly and I think a few of the lurkers could benefit from reading this.
Your handgun is not a fashion accessory. It is not a toy for grown men. It is...
Working on a project. Could use examples of state laws which could be construed to violate article 1, section 16, Maine State Constitution.
Not focusing on local municipal statutes at this time.
Suggestions? Examples? Fire away!
Could use some feedback for the FAQ section of the site I'm working on. Any suggestions?
EDIT: FAQ in its current form: http://maineopencarry.org/faq.html
Would appreciate feedback.

Yup, I'm just a paranoid wacko for wanting to open-carry in such a safe, crime-free state. Truly there's no need whatsoever to deter crime with the visible presence of a firearm.

Alright folks, here's the skinny for those who couldn't make it.
Shane, Norman, and myself spoke against the proposed legislation. The City Council constrained the scope of the meeting to the "proposed legislation" as worded in the 30 September letter which included the much-touted CFP...
What we discovered with our initial membership model is that it was simply out of most people's price range and it didn't look like there would really be recurring benefits for people who wanted to renew after a year (how many t-shirts do you really need, after all...?)
My thinking on the topic...
One of the things I liked the most about Sanford was getting into the community and talking with the local residents. They seemed to have a generally favorable reaction to our presence. We should take that as a lesson learned, I think.
Just found out that Maine Open Carry Association will be on ABC Nightline tonight. More to follow as I get the details.
Edit: 1135 PM EST
For those who didn't catch it, here's the clip on YouTube
